How much can a stock 727 torqflight transmition handel?
Im wanting to put a 408 stroker with roller rockers aluminum heads and 4bbl carb(the works) infront of a 727 but im not shure weather i should just get a used one and rebuild it with a shift kit or buy an aftermarket one for about $1.100 i hear they are super strong but any input would be helpful.
their a really good transmission but i would go through it real good and up grade the clutches and the bands in it along with a really good stall converter in it,with a shift kit,i got one in a 71 model truck with a 440 in it,and it does real good,i went through it real good before i put the engine back together,summit racing sells some really good upgrades for all the Chrysler transmissions,but the 727 is almost bullet proof if its built right,if you build that one at least you,ll know what you got,good luck with it.
