The red has gone on my telly, chuck it?
I'm not very technical so excuse me sounding dull, but you know when you get up close to the screen you can see only 3 colours... Well the red doesn't work 95% of the time. It's usually working when it's switched on, then fades away. And then sometimes the red takes over the whole screen for about 15 seconds and you can't even see the picture through it.
Is it fixable or time to trade in for a flat screen. (I'd feel bad tho cos the advent of flat screen, fab though it is has meant loss of jobs in my area, cos we had a Sony plant making the tubes, but they've stopped production here and switched to europe).
Sorry, rambling, back to the point, reckon it's worth lugging it to a repair shop, or straight to the tip. Either way I'm fed upof white people being grey and black people being green (honest that's how they look with no red)!
iirc when a colour goes on a tube TV it's usually not worth fixing (it will probably need a new tube), TV repair just ain't what it used to be what with all the flat screens around now, mostly with digital components; I doubt places would be willing to repair a tube with such a fault even if it were possible, assuming they still have the repair gadgets and expertise.
Go for a new tube TV or LCD - whenever I've seen Plasma next to an LCD the picture of the LCD was twice as nice.
I would always recommend buying quality such as Sony, if your budget allows.
