What Is Mandarin Chinese? How Is It Different From Regular Chinese? Do You Recommend?

There is no 'regular Chinese', though if there were any candidate for it, it would be Mandarin. 1.3 billion people speak a dialect of Chinese, and 850 million of those people speak the Mandarin dialect as their first language.
Chinese is not an easy language if you're not planning to genuinely study, but if you say you're willing to learn then you can do well. However, I strongly advise against taking two languages at once.
