I have a carved wooden African looking figure ...?
it is dark brown with burlap hair and "skirts". some figurines are playing the guitar or riding a bike. they are just doing various activities. and they have grumpy looking faces.
my questions is ... does anyone know what these are called? they do look like they would come from Africa but I don't know if they are some Americanized form of a different culture

I have seen these being sold in flea markets.
These carved wooden figures are made for export and have nothing to do with historical artifacts.
There is not a specific name for them. They can be manufactured in China or in other Countries that rely on producing inexpensive tourist memorabilia or cheaper fabrications of what the average person believes is representative of other cultures.
There was no golfing tournaments or bike riding etc. in the history of Africa.
